Plaza Block Building Project Needs Local Sandstone Blocks

By: Nancy Bennett

See those thin, thin window sills on the upper level of the Plaza Block building? The stone used to construct them In 1873 has nearly wasted away. New stones are needed for reconstruction. If anyone in the SE Colorado area happens to have light buff sandstone blocks sitting around in a field, a bone yard, in an abandoned building, etc. we might be interested! They would need to be a minimum of 42" long, 10-12" wide and 5" tall.

If you think you might have something suitable, you could leave a message here or call, Nancy Bennett, at 719-469-7683.

Thanks for being on the lookout. The refurbished windows are almost ready to go in! We have new sub floors on the first and second floors, new steps from the street to the upstairs!
