Obituary

Michael Joseph Cordova, 65, of Wichita, KS passed away on April 7, 2021 at the Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He was born on June 9, 1955 in La Junta to Ernest & Amelia (Romero) Cordova.

Michael graduated from Swink High School. He attended OJC and earned his Welding Certification. Michael worked as a welder most of his life in different industries. He was a hard worker and enjoyed some of the more dangerous welding assignments, like working on high-rise buildings while suspended by a harness. His body took a toll in many ways. Michael experienced hardships in his life but was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. He befriended many homeless people and others in need, sharing and helping as much as he could. And he took in abandoned and stray animals, including his faithful pet companion naming her Mercy. His faith and belief in God was strong and sustained him to his last days.

He is survived by his children, Matthew Cordova of Grand Junction, CO; Thomas and Isreal Cordova both of Pueblo; father, Ernest Cordova of Swink; mother, Amelia Williams of Broomfield, CO; brothers, Richard Cordova of Ault, CO; Steven Cordova of Pueblo; aunts, uncles, and extended family also survive. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Cordova and sister, Irene Archer.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery with Father Victor Raj of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
