The purpose of Memorial Day is to pay tribute to the memory of friends and family members who lost their lives while serving their country. It is typically a day of solemn reflection. While your intentions may be good, it could be considered insensitive to extend wishes for a happy day to someone who is currently mourning the loss of loved ones.
