This is a schedule of events for Bent County/Las Animas Cemetery and Fort Lyon National Cemetery.

We are proud to invite you to services at Bent County/LA Cemetery on Monday at 10:00 am as we reflect on the courage and sacrifices of those who died while serving in the U. S. Military.

FRIDAY, MAY 28th : 3:00 pm - Place little flags at veterans’ graves at Bent County/Las Animas Cemetery at 3pm.  (they will be up all weekend, and Lane will take them down on Tuesday). Meet near Chapel. Flags will also be placed on all veterans’ graves at Fort Lyon National Cemetery by a crew early Friday morning.

4-H Youth placing small flags on graves at Bent County Las Animas Cemetery.

MONDAY, MAY 31st :  7am:  Hang Avenue of Flags in Las Animas – meet at Donkle Storage by 7am to start placing flags along the Avenue.  Bring a screwdriver or tool to clean out debris in the holes.  Trucks are very handy for this job. Call Barb Martin at 468-1168 to volunteer – all help appreciated.

MONDAY, MAY 31ST : MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES at Bent County/Las Animas Cemetery at 10:00. Immediately following the service, you are welcome to drive to Fort Lyon where we will place a wreath and say a prayer for those veterans (NO NATIONAL CEMETERY SERVICE). Call Pam Valdez if you have questions at 719-469-1467.

MONDAY, MAY 31st :  4pm:  Take down Avenue of Flags in Las Animas – start at the same location where you placed flags in the morning, roll up flags, put socks on them, and return to Storage Shed. In case of inclement weather, the flags will have to be taken down earlier. (We will text you if this happens). Make sure Barb Martin has your phone number.

Traditions carried on throughout the years!  God bless our Veterans and God Bless America!
