Water main Break La Junta seconews.org Before city utility workers could do repairs they had to relieve the water pressure, however they already had their equipment in place.

Water main Break seconews.org City of La Junta workers had to gradually equalize the water pressure. They worked from 1st to 4th Streets between Santa Fe and Raton Avenues. Here you can see them quickly sealing up the water main valve on 1st Street in front of the city electrical plant.

The city crew was dealing with additional damage on Friday afternoon. The La Junta Public Notices page indicated that the crew had to replace a broken valve at 2nd and San Juan as a result of the previous damage.

At about 1 pm on Friday city crews closed off the hydrants downtown. Subsequent problems occurred at 2nd and San Juan Avenue, which took several days to repair. Sections of 2nd St. were closed off for about a week as the utility crews worked to fix the problems.
