Ernest Ray Ortega

Ernest R. Ortega, 74, passed away on July 28, 2021 at his La Junta home. He was born on July 27, 1947 in La Junta to Matlde Martel & Mary A. (Aragon) Ortega.

Ernest served in the United States Army from 1969-1971 with a tour in Vietnam.

Ernest is survived by his siblings, Mary Lou Draughn, Gloria A. Anderson, George Ortega, Wilhelma Martinez, and Eugene Chavez; numerous nieces & nephews as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, John Miera, Stella Werick, Roberta Gonzales, Manuel Ortega, and Rudolph Ortega.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Lyon National Cemetery with Deacon Allan Medina officiating. Military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8.
