Save Our Children Peaceful Protest and March

Just over 35 people held a peaceful rally and demonstration march that spanned ten blocks in La Junta.

The march started with a gathering at Santa Fe Plaza featuring speeches from event organizers, Ashli Hernandez and Nicki Ehrlich, owner of Nicki's Diamonds & Dirt Roads. Followed by Anne Boswell, News Director of 25-7 Media. All three speeches called attention to human trafficking, child abuse, and pedophilia with disturbing details.Save our children Peaceful protest La Junta Boswell seconews.org

Boswell advocated strongly that the group use resources offered by The Association For the Recovery of Children, an Estes Park, Colorado based company.

Boswell said, "They take in enough money and enough volunteers to be able to train up and go out and do what, I don't want to say what law enforcement can't, but a lot of times law enforcement is very, very strapped, police forces, so they're able to do a little more."

She promoted a seminar in September that would, "actually train people on what they can do." She went on to say that it was not for the faint of heart and you'd better be able to handle what you are going to hear because it is unbelievable.

Boswell was quick to post pictures of the Santa Fe Plaza gathering on social media after her speech.

Local business manager and community member Robyn Platt mentioned that the national media is not giving enough attention to the subject. Platt said, "If these numbers were reported as often and accurately as the Covid numbers people would be dealing with the problem." She sited lack of media attention as a contributing factor to the problem and further stated that sharing that information was what she was there to do.

The group chanted and held signs as they began their march down Colorado Avenue.

The protest led past Woodruff Memorial Library. This white sedan paced through downtown with the march and displayed signage reading, "Protect our Kids."

For about a half a block the protesters took to the street. Not because they wanted to block traffic, but because the sidewalk had been torn out and was in the process of being replaced. This was the only time traffic was impeded and it was only a couple vehicles. It did not seem intentional, but they had to wait for oncoming before passing the protesters.

One of the event organizers, Ehrlich can be seen wrapping up her live-streaming on social media. Throughout the event the organizers of the local, La Junta Save Our Children protest march spoke about utilizing social media to get the word out and coordinate further efforts.

Seconews reached out to event organizers for a follow up interview and Hernandez responded with this, " I did pitch the idea and got this started, but to get it started and it become fully a community awareness was my goal. No group, no politic agendas, just the people, both sides and all sides standing for what needs to be stood for. The kids. That this has gone on for so long and is nothing new. I wish we would have started this along time ago, but better now then not at all. I was so grateful that some strong speakers showed up, that is not my strong point. Lol together we made it happen."
