Six Boy Scouts from Swink Troup 238 Earn Eagle Scout Rank

From Troop 238 out of Swink Colorado Six Boy Scouts earned the highest achievement of Boy Scouts of America. The Rank of Eagle Scout.
Qualifications include camping under the stars. The boys camped at San Isabel camp, Peaceful Valley Camp, Mt. Elbert, Lakes of the Clouds to name a few. They also completed a twenty mile hike in one day at Rourke Ranch.
Twenty one merit badges is the minimum requirement to earn Eagle Scout rank; some of which include aviation, chess, dentistry, forestry, fishing, horsemanship and even search and rescue. The Troop 238 leaders are Donny Short, Derek Wren, Rusty Jackson, Arlene Jackson, Lorrie Underwood and Gary Reed.
An Eagle Scout Project consists of the planning, organizing and completion of their project for the community.
They are required to log hours and materials are written down as well. Then a formal Eagle Scout board of review takes place.
Carlos Carale's project was building an outside food pantry.
Luis Carale's project was cleaning and painting old and new playground equipment.
Michael Short's project was the continued upkeep of mowing, weeding and painting signs and crosses at a cemetery.
Lance Wilson's project was scrapping and power washing one of the towns building as well as outside lawn work.
Joey Wren's project was removal and new replacements of flag holders along the highway.
Kyle Wren's project was repainting the welcome sign and structure in Swink and he also cleaned up other areas.
Troop 238 was Chartered by The Swink Lions Club. All Six Eagle Scouts attend Swink School.
Much help has been given from family members and community members that has impacted the development of these young men.
