Bassick Mine of Rosita Colorado seconews.org Edmund Chase Bassick was a global traveler who struck it rich by moving to Rosita, Colorado. After a good turn in the mineral industry, Bassick founded Bassickville, which would become the future ghost town, Querida.

An outstanding feature is the subterranean chimney not visible from the surface. 

Notice the variety of colors in the soil piled from the mining activity in the 1870's.

Bassick Mine of Querida seconews.org How many tons of ore did these haul down the mountainside? According to the plaque dedicated June 22nd 2019, 2.5 million dollars worth. Carrying the weight of an 1800's boomtown that would become a historic ghost town - Querida, Colorado.
