Obituary

James Dennis Yett, 80, passed away on September 16, 2021 at his Fowler home. He was born on August 28, 1941 in La Junta to Raymond Robert & Mary Helen (Wood) Yett.

He attended K-12 in La Junta. As a young boy he worked at Henry Seiber Farms and Zeller Poultry Farms. During High School he worked at Ross Allsworth Gas Station in La Junta.

At the age of 17, he joined the US Navy where he served as a Naval Electricians Mate USN for three years. He then attended Otero Junior College where he met and married Rosalie Owens in 19963.

He lived in Manitou Springs and worked at the Aircraft Mechanics as a machinist in Colorado Springs. Then was a Jailer/Dog Catcher for La Junta for serval years. He then accepted a position as Dispatcher for The Colorado State Patrol stationed in Eagle, CO. Became a Patrolman, and was stationed in Lafayette. He transferred to Fowler in 1972, and served a total of 21 years, retiring in 1991.

As a Patrolman he was acknowledged by Governor Love of Colorado, Governor Maddox of Georgia, Judges, and public for his courtesy, and integrity.

He was a loving, devoted, godly, family man, who instilled the love of Jesus by walking the walk, not just talking the talk. He loved music, the outdoors, hunting, photography, exercise, and traveling.

Jim is survived by his wife, Rosalie Yett, brother, David Yett, daughters, Patti Owens Aragon and Tammi Yett Taylor, son, Jeff Yett, one niece, one nephew, six great-nephews, 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and four great, great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Mary Helen Yett; brother, Robert (Mary) Yett; nephew, Robert Yett; daughter, Penni Owens Yett Pfeiff; grandsons, Brady Pfeiff, and Charles Aragon.

A Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at the West Assembly of God Church in Fowler. Visitation will be prior to the service from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Ft. Lyon National Cemetery with Military Honors by the VFW Las Animas Post #6. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home.
