Obituary

Rufina Elisa Sandoval, 82, of La Junta passed away on September 18, 2021 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. She was born on October 12, 1938 in La Junta to Serrifin & Cruz (Rosales) Torres.

Rufina enjoyed spending time with her family, enjoyed cooking and cleaning, taking camping trips with her family in their motorhome and loved watching the Raiders play. She worked at the La Junta Public schools as a custodian for 22 years, alongside her husband. She had a loving personality and got everyone's attention with her bright smile. Always making sure everyone had a full belly and a happy heart. Any friend of ours was a friend of hers. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Sandoval of the La Junta home; children, Herman Sandoval, Jr., Connie (Junior Raymond) Blea, Veronica (Alfred) Sanchez, Elaine (Agustin) Lopez and Kevin (Jennifer) Sandoval all of La Junta; grandchildren, Danny Lewis Espinoza, Alfred Sanchez, Jr., Eric Sanchez, Dominic Sanchez, Vincent Sanchez, Charlene Sanchez, Curtis Lopez, Merina Lopez, Allyiah Lopez, Pamela Lopez, Catherine Lopez and Renee Lopez; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, children, Mikey Lopez, Albert Lopez, Debra Sandoval, Michael Lopez and Raymond Baca, Jr.; siblings, Phillip Benny, Richard, Raymond and Bobby Baca.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St Patrick Parish with Father Victor Raj officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
