Obituary

Donald "Don" Gene Overmyer, 75, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Sunday, September 19th, at Memorial Health System, Colorado Springs.

Donald was born in Aurora, IL on May 15, 1946.

He graduated from Aimes College in Greeley with an Associates Degree.

Don was the husband of Kathryn "Kitty" Anne (Hollar) Overmyer, they were married on November 17, 1971 in Greeley, CO. Don was previously married to Jan Overmyer, they divorced.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Don retired in 2000 as a mail carrier from the United State Postal Service after 30+ years in Greeley.

He was very active in the community, serving and volunteering for various organizations and clubs such the VFW, Bents Fort Chapter of the Santa Fe Trails, United Methodist Church (serving on the Finance and Scholarship Committee), the Food Bank and the Golfing with God Club.

Don was an avid golfer but also enjoyed smoking meat on his Traeger grill, baking pies, the morning coffee club, Prison Ministries (Kairos) and playing any card game, Pinochle, Gin, Bridge, etc.

He is survived by:
Wife Kathryn "Kitty", of the home;
Daughter Debbie Calvin (Arnold Hanuman), of Arvada, CO;
Daughter Robin Overmyer (Melanie Montoya), of Greeley, CO;
Sister Marlinda Phiscator, of Niles, MI;
Son Adam, (Ann) Burney, of Ft. Worth, TX;
Son Brian, (Melanie) Burney, of Rocky Ford, CO;
Grandson Daylen, husband of Emily Burney, of Kansas City, MO;
Grandson Christian Burney, of Durango, CO;
Granddaughter Megan Burney, of Rocky Ford, CO;
Granddaughter Victoria Bielewitz, of Greeley, CO;
Grandson Trevor Calvin, of Greeley, CO;
Grandson David Calvin, of Greeley, CO;
Granddaughter Rileigh Walter, of Greeley, CO;
Grandson Alex Walter, of Greeley, CO.
Also many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Don was preceded in death by his brother: Allen Overmyer; sisters: Donna and Della Overmyer; Father and Mother - in - law: Vic and Laura Hollar; granddaughter: Erica Burney

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 24th at First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Marty Lee officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 301 W. Washington, Rocky Ford, CO 81067. The family requests that everyone wear golf clothes attire if possible, khaki's/pants/shorts and a collared shirt with lots of color.
