Obituary

Timothy Raymond Ritter, 77, of Ordway passed away on September 22, 2021 at the Bruce McCandless Veterans Home in Florence, CO, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born August 27, 1944 in La Junta to George Raymond & Barbara June (Day) Ritter. He was the oldest of six children.

He attended La Junta schools and graduated in 1963, He graduated from OJC with an AS and CSU with a degree in Animal Husbandry in 1968. After graduation he entered the US Army and did two tours in Vietnam as a forward observer in the field artillery. Returning to Ft. Carson in 1971 he renewed his friendship with Patricia Lucille McDonell and they were married on February 19, 1972. They had two sons, T.J. in 1978 and Brian in 1984. Due to R.I.F. Tim left the Army in 1973. Although he finished 20 years in the service through the National Guard Reserve he retired as a Lt. Cil. Was a member of the Lyon’s Club, Jaycees, and V.F.W. Ordway member and a volunteer fire fighter for Olney Springs.

From 1973 until 2010 he farmed; raised livestock and worked for DOC. After his retirement he and Patricia traveled until Alzheimer’s made it impossible.

Time spent the last six years of his life being cared for by the wonderful staff at Bruce McCandless Veterans Home in Florence. He loved God, his family and the Army.

He is survived by his wife, sons, two brothers, three sisters, a sister-in-law and two brother-in-law’s. He was preceded in death by his parents, one nephew, and a sister-in-law.

A memorial service will be Monday, September 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Ordway with Pastor Throne Cassidy officiating.
