Richard Devlin, American Legion Post #6 Commander and Dept. of Colorado Junior Vice Commander, was contacted by the Center for American Values in Pueblo about some donations they had for veterans. The Center’s mission is to assist veterans in any way they can, and more information is available at www.americanvaluescenter.org.

They offered boxed donations in Pueblo this past Saturday, with very little notice. Many thanks to Kim and Mark MacDonnell, Las Animas, who donated a truck, and Jim Civis, Auctioneer in Lamar, who donated a trailer, and the seemingly impossible task was accomplished thanks to Richard’s determination and cooperation from local service organizations. They received several boxes of non-perishable gifts to be distributed to our local veterans.

Richard delivered boxes to Mike Lindt, Commander, American Legion Post #94 in Ordway; Kevin Bosley, Commander, American Legion Post #168, whose wife is a is a Gold Star Mother; Rocky Ford American Legion Post #8, Pattiey Pennington, Adjutant; La Junta American Legion Post #2015, Tom Florez, Commander; La Junta American Legion Post #9, American Legion Unit #9 K. D. Tomlin, President and Vice President Angie Davis; La Junta Post #9 American Legion Riders, Billy Hallman President; and American Legion Post #6, Richard Devlin, Commander; Walsh American Legion Post #8, Hal Lease, Commander; Kaye Kerr Post Adjutant Post #48; Lamar American Legion Post #71, Jesse Herrera, Commander; and VFW Auxiliary #2411, Kathleen Tomlin, President, and Dianna Robinson, Secretary.

Boxes included non-perishable family meals, personal items and toiletries. Each Service Organization will distribute as they can and are certainly very grateful for these generous gifts.

A big thanks to Richard for helping all of us and especially to the Center for American Values! God bless our veterans and God Bless America.

A great bunch of service organizations working together!
