Obituary

Marcella Anita Stelter, 56, of Crowley, CO, passed away Saturday, September 25th, at Memorial Health System Central, Colorado Springs.

Marcella was born in Crowley, Colorado on March 2, 1965, a daughter of the late Carmen C. (Olona) and Guadalupe Chavez.

She graduated from Crowley County High School.

She was the wife of George Clifford Stelter, they were married on September 26, 1987 in Crowley, CO.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ordway, CO.

Anita was a very loving woman who loved being a wife, mother, sister and most of all a grandmother. To Anita family was everything. She would never miss a kids or grandkids events from school sports to gymkhanas to 4-H. She was always there and ready to help or bring up the rear with something the kids forgot.

Anita always insisted on taking the grandkids to and from school with her brother Ernie. Anyone that knows Anita knows how much she loved to cook, stuffed sopapilla, green chili and tortillas along with her grandkid’s favorite banana bread. Anita’s hobbies included crocheting, sewing, gambling, horse races, rodeos, demolition derbies and yard sales.

She loved to go to auctions. She would be the one to take everything home at the end of the auctions, the Auctioneers knew she would be bidding, and she would buy anything and everything she could. Anita also loved to go to the thrift stores every chance she could especially the Community Thrift Store in Rocky Ford with her brother and grandkids.

She was always out looking for bargains and watching Facebook. While Anita was out looking for bargains, she was always looking to help others. When she was helping run the family liquor store in Crowley, she knew no stranger. If you asked her to open a charge account, she would let you no questions asked even when she knew they wouldn’t be back to pay, everyone was family.

The kids that would come in always had a snack or drink when they left. Anita loved being outside fishing, camping and taking care of her animals at the family farm in Crowley, it didn’t matter what she was doing as long as it was with her family.

Every year the whole family would take a trip to the Santuario in New Mexico and make she sure she brought back her holy water and dirt. Over the last few months one of Anita’s biggest joys was looking forward to the birth of the newest grandson.

She is survived by:
Husband George of the home;
