Rebecca Goodwin is presenting information on the Japanese Heritage in the Rocky Ford area.  Rebecca is a well-known researcher and historian.  It is fascinating to learn about our area.  Did you know there was a school only for Japanese students?

Violet  "Bobbie" Johnson studied at the National Decorative Painting Society in 1988.  From that beginning she has expanded into acrylics, watercolor, oil, water-based oil.  She has won many awards at the Arkansas Valley Fair.

Cheryl Butcher is an accomplished book maker.  She makes themed books in all different sizes.  Each is filled with tucks and surprises to explore thus interactive.  She has also expanded into making journals, lapbooks, junk journals as well, some using handmade paper.

More About Cheryl Butcher:

I am a Bookmaker!  Also, a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great grandmother.  I was raised in the Cheraw area and graduated Cheraw Schools, earned AA degree at OJC La Junta, and a BS degree in Sociology/Criminology from USC Pueblo.  After university I worked as a Probation Officer for the 16th Judicial District retiring after 18 years as Chief Probation Officer.  During this employment I was a Probation Officer teacher, teaching new programs to officers across the state.  I was also a drug/alcohol officer, and intensive supervision officer.  I loved this job and was sad to need to leave due to health reasons.

After retirement I was exploring new interests and found a tutorial on making custom Interactive Mini Photo Albums.  After trying to make the first one I was hooked!

I began by making graduating grandkids a book each and it grew from there.  I have always enjoyed creating things with paper so this process of making albums seemed right.

Each photo album is themed, all different sizes and able to hold 25 - 85 pictures with places for journaling.  Each is filled with tucks and surprises to explore thus interactive.  This business has also expanded into making journals, lapbooks, junk journals as well, some using handmade paper.  Custom albums are available to meet your needs.

I have always done things with my hands.  I played piano at age 5, played organ for church services beginning age 14, all over the valley and continue to do so.  I have created silver jewelry from metal clay, made beaded jewelry, copper enameled jewelry, quilting and various sewing, embroidery, especially Brazilian embroidery, and the latest interest is wool felting.  I told my husband Stan, that I can’t believe I have found yet another ‘interest’.  I have always loved paper and various paper crafting which led directly, I think, to becoming a Bookmaker. (Maybe better titled Booksmith.)  I sold many of my books through the Emporium in La Junta and now they are available directly from me.

There is something for everyone at this show.
