Obituary

Elva May Sumey, 95, of Sugar City, CO, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo.

Elva was born in Eskridge, Kansas on March 11, 1926, a daughter of the late Mary Lee (Taylor) and Charles Ervin Timmons.

Elva was born in Kansas, raised in Colorado but also lived in California and Oregon, she was always on the move. She spent some 30 years in home healthcare. Before that, she worked in electronics and restaurants for a number of years. She loved crafts, crocheting, her dogs and her chickens. A Christian that led by example; always on a mission to make certain no one went hungry. There was never a job too large or too small that she would not tackle. She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. We will all miss her every day.

She is survived by son, Ross (Trieu) Massey, of Carmichael, CA; daughter, Debra Rigdon, of Ordway, CO; son, Jeff Sumey, of Cutbank, MT; sister-in-Law, Loretta Timmons, of Pueblo, CO. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Barbara (Jack) Swalley, Steve Bruning, Russell Bruning, Robin (Chad) O'Connell, Heather Mizuno, Kim (Dustin) Smith, Eddie, Wayne, Lori & Diane Massey; 9 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Elva was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Massey; daughter, Mary Clark; great-granddaughter, Devon Shetler; four sisters and five brothers.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 18th at Ford - Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Jeremy Hoyt officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
