Obituary
Irene J. Barela, 73, passed away on November 19, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. Sh was born on November 19, 1948 to Benjamin & Lelia (Trujillo) Barela in Denver, Colorado. She was a sister to Gerald Garcia, Everett Montano, Debbie Mathis, Ronald Montano and Diane Montano.
Irene is survived by her son, Roger (Louri) Barela of La Junta; grandchildren, Sarah Barela of La Junta, Christopher Barela of La Junta, Amanda (Jeremy Williams of Pueblo West, and Aaron (Ashley) Gallegos of Pueblo; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Felipe Conteros.
As per Irene’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service held at a later date.
