Obituary

Christine Chapman, 78, of Swink, passed away on November 28, 2021, at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta. Christine was born in Moro, Arkansas to Jasper & Bertha Bryant on June 21, 1943. She moved with the family to Colorado in 1957. Christine married Jerry Chapman on March 11, 1960; he preceded her in death on October 5, 2018.

Her work ethic was instilled in her early in life as she grew up picking cotton with her siblings and parents in Arkansas. She could work circles around people several years her junior! In addition to being a wife and mother to Randy and Vicki, she worked various jobs over the years. She did ironing, was a top sales lady for Avon for years, baked and decorated cakes for special occasions, worked at the Sassy Tiger Gift Shop in La Junta, worked for Dr. Mark Mills, and was a top salesperson for Christmas Around the World (House of Lloyd). For the last several years, she loved selling clothing at crafts shows and fashion shows in various states.

Christine never met a stranger and her love for people was always evident. The Chapman home was regularly a gathering place for Randy and Vicki’s friends growing up. She was very active in any activity her children were involved in from sports teams, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and band.

Christine loved adventure and in her time with Christmas Around the World won several trips that she enjoyed with Jerry. Their travels included Hawaii, Greece, Brazil, the Caribbean, London, Acapulco, Alaska, Egypt, Israel, Germany, Austria, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Switzerland, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Mexico and Amsterdam.

She and Jerry also enjoyed traveling in their motor home around the country and were AZ snowbirds for over 30 years. She loved doing craft shows and fashion shows, selling her clothing at the various RV parks in Yuma, AZ.

Family was very important to Christine. She planned/hosted several family reunions for both the Bryant and the Chapman families over the years. She also loved being part of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephew’s lives.

Christine is survived by her children, Randy (Julie Reith) Chapman; Vicki (Monte) Laubach; sisters, Ruth Hines and Phyllis Bates; brother, Melbra Bryant; grandchildren Brock and Jenni Chapman and Megan Chapman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents, Jasper (Bertha) Bryant, Sr.; father & mother-in-law, Miles (Dorothy) Chapman; siblings, Jasper Bryant, Jr.; Raymond Bryant, Billy Bryant, William Bryant, Albert Bryant, Eugene Bryant, Gilbert Bryant; JC Bryant and baby sister, Sue.

A celebration of Christine’s life will be Friday, April 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
