AIR QUALITY HEALTH ADVISORY FOR BLOWING DUST FROM 300 PM TUESDAY UNTIL 800 PM WEDNESDAY...

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued the following... WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Blowing Dust.

WHERE...Larimer, Weld, Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Washington, Yuma, Elbert, El Paso, Lincoln, Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Pueblo, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero, Bent, Prowers, Huerfano, Las Animas, Baca, Saguache, Rio Grande, Alamosa, Conejos, and Costilla Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Fort Collins, Greeley, Fort Morgan, Sterling, Julesburg, Holyoke, Akron, Wray, Kiowa, Colorado Springs, Hugo, Burlington, Cheyenne Wells, Pueblo, Ordway, Eads, La Junta, Las Animas, Lamar, Walsenburg, Trinidad, Springfield, Saguache, Del Norte, Alamosa, Conejos, and San Luis.

WHEN...300 PM Tuesday December 14 to 800 PM Wednesday December 15

IMPACTS...Strong and gusty winds with blowing dust will develop early Wednesday morning in the San Luis Valley of south-central Colorado.

These high winds with blowing dust will spread onto the plains of southeastern Colorado by the mid-morning hours on Wednesday, and across northeastern Colorado during the late morning and early afternoon hours.

Gusty winds and the threat for blowing dust will continue through the afternoon hours before gradually diminishing Wednesday evening.

HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: Increasing likelihood of respiratory symptoms in sensitive individuals, aggravation of heart or lung disease and premature mortality in people with cardiopulmonary disease and older adults. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.
