Clean Valley Recycling installs New Baler

Have you ever wondered what happens to all of the used plastic bottles and aluminum cans that go to the recycling center in Swink every year? They are sorted, packaged into bales, and shipped to other businesses that remake them into new products. Thirty-four semi-truck loads of reclaimed waste materials passed through Clean Valley and their baler in 2021!

If you are not familiar, a baler compresses and packages materials into a tight block for easier handling, like a bale of hay.

Clean Valley Recycling The current baler at Clean Valley Recycling is a refurbished 2006 machine, purchased in 2013. It has structural issues from metal fatigue caused by sixteen years of steady use. Complete failure of the compression chamber is likely in the near future. If the baler breaks, the recycling program will come to a full stop, so they are replacing it now to ensure recycling can continue.

The price tag for all of this is a hefty $116,000. Clean Valley Recycling has already raised over $66,000, but they need $50,000 more.
