The Arkansas Valley Swim Team made a splash at 3A State at the Veteran’s Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton, CO on Friday, Feb 11, 2022 and Saturday, Feb 12, 2022. 

Prelims were a whirlwind, where timing was everything, and if swimmers weren’t in their place, they risked missing their race! 

One right after another, these girls competed in their races that they qualified for during the regular swim season. 

These truly were the best of the best in the state in the 3A division. 

Prelim Highlights:

• Relay, consisting of Grace Gardner, Sol Tirado-Jensen, Claire Emick & Aurora Baiardi,  did not advance to Finals in the 200 Medley Relay, with a time of 2:05:40 sitting at 24th place.

• Aurora Baiardi advanced to the Finals in the 50 Freestyle, with a time of 25.58 sitting at 9th place.

• Aurora Baiardi advanced to the Finals in the 100 Freestyle, with a time of 56.03 sitting at 7th place.

• Grace Gardner advanced to the Finals in the 100 Freestyle, with a time of 57.02 sitting at 14th place.

• Relay, consisting of Grace Gardner, Emilia Metz, Sol Tirado-Jensen & Aurora Baiardi, advanced to the Finals in the 200 Freestyle Relay, with a time of 1:52:03 sitting at 16th place.

• Grace Gardner advanced to the Finals in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:04:55 sitting at 13th place.

• Relay, consisting of Dyllan Damgaard, Emilia Metz, Claire Emick & Sol Tirado-Jensen, advanced to Finals in the 400 Freestyle Relay, with a time of 4:30:08 sitting at 19th place.

Finals Highlights:

• Aurora Baiardi would have placed 5th in the 50 Freestyle Finals with a time of 25.03, however, she was disqualified due to logos on her European tech suit.  

• Aurora Baiardi placed 6th Overall in the 100 Freestyle Finals with a time of 56.21.

• Grace Gardner placed 14th Overall in the 100 Freestyle Finals with a time of 57.02.

• Relay, consisting of Emilia Metz, Sol Tirado-Jensen, Aurora Baiardi & Claire Emick (subbed out Grace Gardner) placed 20th Overall in the 200 Freestyle Relay Finals, with a time of 1:55.03.

• Grace Gardner placed 15th in the 100 Backstroke Finals with a time of 1:04:77.

• Relay, consisting of Dyllan Damgaard, Emilia Metz, Claire Emick & Sol Tirado-Jensen, placed 19th in the 400 Freestyle Relay Finals, with a time of 4:27:39.

Overall, these ladies had an amazing season, and the Arkansas Valley Swim Team coaches, swimmers, and families are proud of their accomplishments at State!
