Obituary

James Franklin O’Neal, 62, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2022, at his Pueblo home. He was born on August 3, 1959, in Brighten, Colorado to George & Velma (Hicks) O’Neal.

Jim worked at Ft. Lyon as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and also in maintenance, he also was a drug and alcohol counselor at RESADA, CCA Prison in Crowley County and also at Pathfinders.

He was loved and respected by many. Jim was a devoted father and friend.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Connie O’Neal, son, James O’Neal, stepchildren, Lacy (Chris) Thomas, Nick (Cinthia) Jones, and Christine (Kyle) Perkins, grandchildren, Chloe Jones, Tyler Perkins and Kinsley Marie Anderson, also survived by many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Malone, father, George O’Neal, sisters, Etta Allen, Karen McCracken and Sharon Gray, brothers, John and George O’Neal.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bent County Cemetery in Las Animas with Pastor John Dell of the First Christian Church in Rocky Ford officiating. Following will be a reception at the Bent County Community Center, 1214 Ambassador Thompson Blvd., Las Animas, CO 81054.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a program near and dear to Jim, homeless outreach (communitylove.tithelysetup8.com).
