Obituary

Victor Orlando “Tip” Medina, 71, passed away on March 17, 2022, at his La Junta home. He was born on February 22, 1951, in La Junta to Victor Leyva & Cecilia (Guerra) Medina.

Tip worked for Medina's Construction, the East Otero School District, he also did construction. During his time in the Air Force, he did carpentry and so much more. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick’s Parish.

He was a hardworking man who loved his family more than anything. He was the go-to man, he never let his friends and family go without. He always made sure they had what they needed, his love for everyone was unconditional. His grandbabies were the light of his life, he always had to have them around to keep him going. He always made sure he had someone to fight with for the day, whether it was his kids or grandkids he had to pick on someone. Everyone will always be an ugly kid to him, he was strong man, and he was loved by so many he will forever be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria of the La Junta home; sons, Orlando Medina of Denver; Issac Medina, Michael Medina and Alejandro (Kim) Medina all of La Junta; sisters, Tomasita (Rick) Fernandez of Las Animas; Cecelia (Dave) Medina of La Junta; Genevieve (Jessie) Salinas of Pueblo; six grandchildren, Victor, Antonio, Makayla(Alex) Good, Aaliyah (Elias Gonzales) Medina, Octavia (Angelica) Medina and Zykodi Medina; six great-grandchildren & one on the way, Esaias Good, Sadie Medina, Maribel Good, Amia Gonzales, Izayias Good, Lena Gonzales and baby girl “Good”. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Luther Medina; grandson, Victor Medina; brothers, Tutie (Delouise) Medina, Joe (Cynthia) Medina; sisters, Helen (Clem) Medina and Edna Vigil.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, April 8, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Joseph Matitu officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
