Obituary

Sarah Jane (Clawson) Damgaard, known as Sarah, mom, and grandma, passed away unexpectedly on March 28. Sarah was born to James Robert Clawson and Mildred May (Deason) Clawson on February 29, 1948, in La Junta, Colorado. She was the second oldest of four children. She was a wonderful, caring, and loving woman who always put her family first.

Sarah grew up in La Junta, Colorado. She graduated from La Junta High School in 1966 and attended Otero Junior College where she earned her Associates Degree. On April 15, 1972, she married Larry Damgaard. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Sarah and Larry have three children; Kris, Jim, and Kelly who were all born in Cambridge NE, but grew up in Fowler, Colorado.

Sarah worked out of the home when her kids were young. She started working at the Fowler Day Care Center when Kelly was young but later found joy in substitute teaching. Sarah became very active in the Fowler Christian Church.

Sarah’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved watching Seth and Bronson play baseball and wrestle, Dyllan play softball and swim, Denton and Tanner play baseball and ice hockey, and making yearly visits to Raleigh to see Avery, Emma and Ella, she always tried to make it to one of their birthdays.

Sarah is survived by her husband Larry, children Kris (Kristie), Jim (Tarah), and Kelly (Josh), and grandchildren Seth, Dyllan, Denton, Tanner, Bronson, Avery, Emma, and Ella. She is also survived by her sisters Becky and Jeanette (Ron) and her brother Jim (Linda), along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Mildred, sister-in-law Maxine, and bother-in-law Gene. She is going to be missed by so many.

A memorial service will be Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Church of Fowler with Pastor Mike Diodosio officiating.
