Obituary

On April 6, 2022. Robert L. Freidenberger passed away in Grand Junction, CO after a lengthy battle with dementia.  He was 73 years old.

Robert, or Bob as he was fondly called, is survived by his daughters, Suzette Swygman (Ryan) of Palisade, CO and Melinda Marks (Michael) of Grand Junction, CO.  Siblings Bonnie Appel (Harold) of Colorado Springs, CO and Patty Rovang (Dean) of Albuquerque, NM.  Grandchildren Adriana and Amelia Swygman and Madelyn and Xavier Marks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Freidenberger, a daughter and his parents Fred and Juanita Freidenberger.

Bob was born on January 26, 1949, in La Junta, CO.  He attended La Junta schools and graduated from La Junta High School in 1967.

Bob married Cheryl Bay on June 7, 1970, in La Junta, CO.  They were grade school sweethearts that carried that love through almost 50 years of marriage.  They welcomed Suzette in 1973 and Melinda in 1979.

Bob was a well-known and active member of the La Junta community, owning and running an electrical business with his father and then his wife for many years.  An active member of the ARPA Board, the La Junta City Council, Division of Wildlife Commissioner, a Hunter Education Instructor, an officer with the La Junta Police Reserves and several other boards and councils not mentioned.  He was a true advocate for those he served and thoroughly enjoyed helping others.  Bob also enjoyed his many hunting adventures with his friends and family and later retelling those hunting stories, usually with a belly laugh.  He loved his family and was always there for them.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the La Junta Senior Center on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:30am with refreshments served.  Anyone wanting to speak or tell stories about Bob are invited to do so.  Donations can be made to Hopewest Hospice in Grand Junction or the NRA Whittington Center of Raton, NM in honor of Robert Freidenberger.
