Listen to the Interview with La Junta Fire Chief Brad Davidson:

This is Adrian Hart with your Southeast Colorado News on seconews.org

and we're here at 18th and Bradish Ave. in La Junta with our La Junta Chief Brad Davidson as it appears that they have responded to a brush fire here on the East side of town. Brad do you want to tell us a little about the call and a little bit about the department's response going on here?

Davidson: Sure, we received a report of a weed and grass fire around 18th and Bradish moving pretty quick because of the winds, when the crews got on the scene they made an aggressive attack on the perimeter to slow down the fire. Unfortunately it got into this group of trees right here, so now we're in the mop up stages we don't have any more fire growth. We're going to have to cut down a lot of these trees and use foam on them to make sure we get them 100% out.

SECO News: Some tree removal, not the way we like to see it and of course you guys making sure you're dowsing it real well, recently with those large Wildfires going on. This is a half an acre, if that?

Davidson: I'd say just over a half acre total. Our biggest concern is that it would run the hills and get up on top, but we stopped that and everything, we don't have any more fire growth, we're looking pretty solid right now.

SECO News: Alright, no risk to structures at this time?

Davidson: No risk to structures and no evacuations.

SECO News: Alright, very good, no injuries either?

Davidson: No injuries.

SECO News: That's what I like to hear... This is good reporting on Easter Sunday.

Davidson: That's right.

SECO News: Well, thank you for your time and thank you for your service.

Davidson: Hey, thanks Adrian, we appreciate you.
