Obituary

Nash Ayala departed this life on April 30, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Nash was born on April 11, 1926 in Greeley, Colorado to Santiago and Guadalupe Ayala.

Nash worked many jobs in his life, the three most memorable being the Fox Theatre where he worked for 20+ years, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish School and of course The La Junta High School where he worked for 25 years. Nash was a lifelong member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick’s church.

Nash is survived by his daughter, Margaret (Roy) Grasmick of Rocky Ford; grandson, Matt (Jill) Valdez of La Junta; granddaughter, Erika (Brendon) Valdez of Pueblo; daughter-in-law, Ledia Ayala of Leoti, Kansas and several nieces and nephews. Nash was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia, daughter, Alice Jean, son, Michael, parents, brothers, Joe (Virginia) Ayala, Pete (Mollie) Ayala and sister, Georgia (Serafin) McClain in addition to many other family members.

Nash was a very outgoing and friendly person well known to all in the community. The love he had for his job at the high school is immeasurable. He took extreme pride in everything he did, was a man of faith and was extremely proud of his family. Nash was very fond of traveling, family functions and never knew a stranger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Joseph Matitu officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
