Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center Board Taps New CEO Andy Flemer

La Junta, CO – May 12, 2022 – Andy Flemer will become Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC) Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2022, as Lynn Crowell retires on June 30, 2022, after serving as CEO of the hospital for 24 years.

The AVRMC Board of Directors selected Flemer for his 30+ years of successful healthcare leadership, knowledge of hospital operations, ability to develop and expand services, and success in building physician relationships. His experience spans both for-profit and not-for-profit environments including Acute Care, Critical Access, Rural Health and Specialty Clinics, Skilled Nursing and Surgery Centers.

“On behalf of the entire AVRMC Board of Directors, we are ever thankful for Lynn’s leadership over important decades of growth and service for the hospital,” said Dale Leighty, AVRMC Board Chairman. “We anticipate a smooth transition and are very excited for Andy to join our hospital leadership team and become an integral part of our community. We appreciate all the hard work, dedication, and support from our Board of Directors and hospital leadership during the search process. Together, we commit to our steadfast mission, to provide healthcare services to our communities with excellent service, compassion, and fiscal responsibility.”

The CEO search process was complemented by Community Hospital Consulting (CHC Consulting), which provided qualified candidates and a disciplined search and selection process. CHC Consulting, the consulting arm of Community Hospital Corporation (CHC), provides support services for AVRMC.

According to Leighty, Flemer’s passion for rural medicine and commitment to healthcare excellence align with the hospital’s goals and path forward.

Flemer has served in leadership positions with HCA, Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia, and South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. For nearly the past seven years, he has completed long-term interim leadership roles for a large hospital executive leadership consulting organization. These interim engagements have included CEO and COO engagements in Hospitals, Multi-Specialty Medical Groups, Primary Care Networks, Health Systems and Managed Care. His experience encompasses acute care, for-profit, faith-based, public district authorities, and not-for-profit hospital/health system operations.

Flemer earned his Master of Science, Healthcare Administration, from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, and his Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, from the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, Virginia. He is a member of the Medical Group Management Association and American College of Healthcare Executives.
