            Jose “Gilbert” Medina was born on March 24, 1948 in Maes, New Mexico. He passed away on May 9, 2022 in Pueblo, Colorado.

            Gilbert was born to Alfonso and Ida Medina. He attended school in Maes, New Mexico. He married June Gonzales on August 8, 1970 in Rocky Ford. Gilbert was a “Jack of all trade."

Gilbert is survived by his wife June Medina; sons: Julian (Pamela) Medina, Billy (Josefina) Medina; grandchildren: Brittannie (Jesse) Hernandez, Daina Medina, Jose Julian (Skye) Medina, Lauren Medina, David Medina, Daisy Medina, and Alexis Medina; great-grandchildren: Blaise Medina, Harley Medina, Elijah Lucero-Medina, Abigail Hernandez, Jackson Hernandez, Rykr Medina, and Rylee Medina; his family dog Oso; his brothers: Delfi Medina, Urvin (Margret) Medina, George (Leeza) Medina, Johnny Medina; sisters: Mary Maes, and Vita Ornelas; sister-in-law Connie Medina; and in-laws: Art (Jenny) Gonzales, Ben (Nancy) Gonzales, Gerri (Arnie) Chavez, Patsy (Rocky) and Alfred Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents: Alfonso and Ida Medina, his brother Leroy Medina, his in-laws Art and Annie Gonzales, his sister-in-laws Lydia Medina and Martha Medina, and his brother-in-laws Sef Ornelas and Margarito Maes.

            His pallbearers will be: Julian Medina, Billy Medina, Jose Julian Medina, David Medina, Blaise Medina, Harley Medina, and Elijah Lucero-Medina. Honorary pallbearers will be: Brittannie Hernandez, Daina Medina, Lauren Medina, Abigail Hernandez, Jackson Hernandez, Rykr Medina, Daisy Medina, Alexis Medina and Rylee Medina.

            A Visitation will be held for Gilbert on Wednesday, May 18 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Bellwood Ford Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 10:00 AM at The River of Life Ordway with Jeb Brown of Ordway officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford.
