Swink 2nd Graders Book Publishing Party

Swink Students celebrated their first published work Wednesday afternoon in Swink, Colorado. Second Grade Teacher Sarah Voigts led the class through the process, which also included a black and white art project. The book is about African American History and students read their lessons aloud to parents and teachers.

Parents listened to each student read their page published in the book.

Each student created two pages. One page a black and white portrait of an iconic African American and another page telling about them and their impacts on society.

Parents who ordered copies of the book received them after the presentation.

Voigts said this was the third year she had used the program to teach her students about history while creating a memento for their parents.

For More Information or to purchase a copy of the book, contact Sarah Voigts at Swink Schools: (719) 384-8103.
