SURVEY SUPPORTING LA JUNTA'S CREATIVES

[LA JUNTA, COLORADO, June 9, 2022]

By Cynthia Nieb, Director, La Junta RISE

La Junta RISE, a joint program of La Junta's Main Street and Certified Colorado Creative District, is circulating a survey to capture a snapshot of all of the creative residents who perform, create, and support the production of art, culture, and events in La Junta.

"La Junta's cultural industries are vast and embedded into our daily lives and economic vitality. We need to celebrate the people and products that enrich our lives. The very first step we need to take is to record how many talented people we have in this municipality so that their contributions can be recognized, and La Junta RISE can promote, support, and expand the creative industries to drive La Junta's economy, grow jobs, and enhance design, film and media, literature and publishing, performing arts, visual arts, and design and scores of other endeavors," said Cynthia Nieb, Director, La Junta RISE.

Who are these cultural creatives? These are the people who dance, sing, choreograph, paint, sculpt, work in fiber arts, create wood and leather products, design gardens and landscapes, create code, style our hair, paint our nails, create beauty products, make our food, cater, run food trucks, write books, plays, and music, produce events and cultural/creative products, design flower arrangements, make photographic memories, run theaters, design and build our dwellings and commercial spaces, make wine, design and produce jewelry, and open maker spaces. The list is endless. And you--yes YOU--are probably a cultural creative.

It's a little known fact, but Colorado ranks #1 in the percentage of residents who personally perform or create artworks according to a National Endowment for the Arts participation study. La Junta needs to be counted!

Help us help you! Please complete this survey (Click Here for the Survey).

Attend a listening session on Thursday, June 16 at 5:30pm and/or Saturday, June 18 at 10am on the Woodruff Memorial Library patio. Refreshments and a raffle will be available. We're looking forward to meeting all of you.

Woodruff Memorial Library is located at 522 Colorado Ave. in La Junta.
