The John W. Rawlings Heritage Center & Museum is proud to announce the opening of their summer, “Needlework History Exhibit.”   About 20 people enjoyed the tea party Sunday afternoon to kick off the exhibit.

Guests enjoyed raspberry and peach teas; cucumber sandwiches, fruits, and many desserts.

This exhibit was Linda Lightcap’s dream with several items on display from the Museum treasures and loans from community members.  There are eight different types of needlework on display with 71 entries.

Kathleen thanked the community members for their loans that truly enhance the exhibit.

Bent County Art Guild was thanked for the help with the tea party and for the round tables they have donated to the Grand Hall for events – they are wonderful.

The Tuesday volunteers were all thanked for their help with setting up the exhibit.

Thanks to Karen Garland, Bent County Art Guild member, who donated teacups and saucer place sets, and all guests received one.

Linda Bourne had her beautiful tea set on display on a table, and it was delightful.

Lynette Wolfe was thanked for the signage; Pat Bertram for the brownies; and Sonja Quarles Termini for the door prizes.

They were won by Lisa Graves, first place, Bundt pan; Christine Shelton, second place, 2-quart casserole dish; and Phyllis Lutz, third place, spice rack.  Guests enjoyed the refreshments, looking at the exhibit, and viewing the Kinsley Quilt, which was featured in the exhibit.  The exhibit will run through Labor Day.
