Inagural La Junta Tarantula Fest Parade Results

The people of Southeast Colorado came together to celebrate the Tarantulas of Southeast Colorado for the first Tarantula Festival in La Junta, Colorado. 

The La Junta Tourism Board Tarantula Fest Planning Committee, consisting of volunteers, spent months laying out plans for the inaugural event celebrating the Colorado Brown Tarantula's Mating Season. 

The celebration kicked off with a family bike ride and parade Saturday morning and featured activities like a Hairy Leg Contest and an eight-legged race.

The community came together in downtown La Junta for a day of activities and family fun.

Best Costume: The King of the Tarantulas - Charlie Fox

Best Tarantula Theme: Dirt Lovers Softball

Mayor's Choice: Sophie Klob as the Human Tarantula

Best Float: Tarantula Attack - Thunder Media (not pictured)

Parade Route: The parade lineup started at 5th & Santa Fe and went North to 2nd Street, then turned from 2nd Street onto Colorado and then up to 6th & Colorado where the parade ended.
