From the La Junta Chamber of Commerce Facebook Post:

"Good Morning to our La Junta Small Businesses and Community-

Out of respect and concern for the current COVID-19 restrictions that are upcoming in our state and for the pressure this will add to our city's public health department, the police and city council, the La Junta Chamber of Commerce will be cancelling the Christmas Light Parade.  Our Board has struggled with this decision, but we also know that our region is being challenged with the increased COVID cases and the high need for our small businesses during the upcoming holiday season.

We encourage our small businesses to participate in the Shop Small Holiday Season that we will be rolling out shortly, the soon to be released SECO Strong small business project funded in part by SECO SBDC and their Southeast Website Advancement Project (SWAP) and additional positive programs being released in Otero County for the holiday season. We know that it is difficult during this time to see the silver lining; it is possible and it's there.

In January our Board will be meeting to create a structured plan for increased supportive small business programming and sharing our events with strategic partners for cost effective events that are more inclusive to all our community partners.  In the meantime, we will continue to decorate the Plaza, to encourage holiday connectedness during a time when we might feel isolated individually. The community and city is in our hearts and so is your safety and supporting our city's government entities. We can get through this because we are strong and we work together through the easy times and the tough ones."

Our best to you and your families this holiday season,

Mickie Lewis/ LJCC Board President and the Chamber Board
