Blessing of the Backpacks for 2023 School Year

Description: Students are asked to bring their school backpacks to Mass to bring them up after communion for the blessing.

At the 5:30pm Mass on August 19 at St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Las Animas and at the 10:30am Mass on August 20 at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Catholic Parish in La Junta, there will be a blessing of the backpacks for all students from preschool through college. We are asking God to keep them safe this school year, that they will not worry about things they cannot control, and they will glorify God by doing well in their studies.  Students are asked to bring their school backpacks to Mass to bring them up after communion for the blessing.  There will be special tags for all the backpacks.
