Evelyn Nan Smith (Lynnie Flowers) was born on June 23, 1957, in La Junta, Colorado, and departed from this world on August 29, 2023, in the comfort of her own home.
Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Alan Smith of Fallon, NV. Her cherished daughter Miranda (Stephen) Knight, her adoring granddaughter , Rileigh (Kelsey) Ricken all of Oklahoma. She also leaves behind her two bonus sons who were dear to her heart, Chad (Holly) Smith and Charley (Beverly) Smith all of Bakersfield, CA. Her beloved nieces, Alexia (Lexi) Devie and Tekla Tafoya, her brother-in-law, Donald Devie and countless adoring friends. Lynn’s love knew no bounds, extending to her blended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Thelma Flowers, and four sisters, Hedy Louise (Flowers) Glaspie, Bonnie Jean (Flowers) Stone, Barbara Joanne (Flowers) Devie, and Tamara Flowers. Lynn also mourned the loss of her nephew, Blake Devie, her brother- in-law Dr. Marvin Stone, and half-brother, John Mayernick.
Lynn was an exceptionally intelligent woman who radiated life and love wherever she went. Her presence had the power to light up any room, and she was known for her skill in crafting the perfect chocolate martini. Her passion for books and thirst for knowledge were boundless, matched only by her love for her family.
Lynn's warm and genuine hugs were legendary, a reflection of her deep love for everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy extends beyond her family; she served as the Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa at Otero Junior College and held the title of Miss OJC.
In honor of Lynn's spirit, please join us in celebrating her life rather than mourning her passing. Let us remember the joy, love, and vibrant personality that she shared with all of us. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and her memory will continue to brighten our lives.
A celebration of Lynn's vibrant life will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11 am at the school in Kim, Colorado. Following the ceremony, her ashes will be lovingly spread at the family ranch. Lynn had a deep love for Jimmy Buffett, and it's only fitting that her celebration be filled with joy and the music she adored.
Lynn Nan Smith (Flowers) will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
