An abondoned rural structure fire was utilized as a training exercise for fire fighters and newspaper reporters alike. Susan Pieper catches a shot of the fire fighters attacking the blaze.

The Fire Fighters coordinate their efforts and keep their distance from the fire as they practice working as a team.

Falling debris from the structure fire poses a hazard for both fire fighters and news reporters. This abandoned farm house provided a great educational opportunity and experiences that surely benefited the community with a more capable fire department.

The situation created a great chance for pictures. As it was an abandoned structure the fire was allowed to destroy the old farmhouse completely. Clean up was accomplished with a front end loader filling the foundation with the debris.

As you can see here, the complete structure was burned. Old wood shingles made for an intense burn.

Here you can see the second story floor as fiery charcoals through the doorway. Here you can see the shadows of tree branches piled against the building. After half a day of clean up a hazard and eyesore was removed, and in doing so the local fire department was able to gain some training hours.
