Obituary

Robert Martinez, Sr., 71, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 3, 2020 at his La Junta home. He was born on June 1, 1949 to Antonio & Louisa (Baca) Martinez in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He married, the love of his life, Linda Romero on June 21, 1968.

Robert was a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and all his grandchildren. He loved Tiger Basketball games. He enjoyed fishing, working on his yard, his garden, Spanish music and watching his football team the Las Vegas Raiders.

Robert is survived by his wife, Linda of the La Junta home; son, Robert (Cynthia) Martinez, Jr. of La Junta; daughter, Lisa (Jim) Bensley of La Junta; daughter, Tracy (James) Osborn of La Junta; son, Isaiah Martinez of La Junta; daughter-in-law, Chasity Spring of Port Henry, NY; grandchildren, Jonathan (Taci) Martinez of La Junta, Santana (Kevin) Symczak of Scotch Plains, NJ, Sgt. Cody Bensley of Jacksonville, NC, Dominic Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO, Kourtnei Osborn of Broomfield, CO, Kamryn Osborn of Broomfield, Derek Bensley of La Junta, Kendyl Osborn of La Junta, and Kaelani Osborn of La Junta; great-grandchildren, Hunter Isaacs of La Junta, Jordan Martinez of La Junta, Abigail Bensley of Jacksonville, and Sawyer Martinez of Colorado Springs; brothers, David (Edwina) Martinez of La Junta, George (Gail) Martinez of Pueblo, CO, Ray (Shelly) Martinez of Cheraw, CO, and Leroy Martinez of Swink, CO; sisters, Timmy (Abel) Soto of Rocky Ford, CO, Rose Mendoza of Payette, ID, and Anita Aragon of Las Vegas, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio & Louisa Martinez, son, Duane Martinez, brothers, Manuel & Jimmy Martinez, mother-in-law, Inez Romero and father-in-law, Camilo Romero.

Funeral service will be Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Darryl Johnson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Assembly of God Church, 2105 Adams Avenue, La Junta, CO 81050, direct or through the funeral home.
