Obituary

Mary Lou (Marroney) Quick, 74 of Cheraw, was called home on December 21, 2020 at Evergreen Gardens in La Junta. She was born May 6, 1946 to Georgia (Goodrich) Ellis and John Marroney in Pueblo, CO. Mary Lou married Gary Lynn Quick on July 4, 1964 in La Junta.

Mary Lou made her home in Cheraw and raised her 4 boys there. Her life was devoted to giving her family the best life that she could. She loved attending football and basketball games and was extremely proud of all of her sons. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she would spend hours decorating every room in her home, making it a magical wonderland for all the children. She was a faithful member of Cheraw United Methodist Church. Mary Lou is probably best remembered for the many years that she taught at Cheraw School. She was loved for her compassion and creativity. She also graduated from Otero Jr. College while teaching school and raising a very active family. Later in life, her grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Mary Lou is survived by her sons; Todd (Robbie) Quick of La Junta, Scot (Pam) Quick of Lubbock, TX, Michael (Steffiny) Quick of Strasburg, CO, J.J. (Bobbi) Quick of Pritchett, CO; grandchildren, Brandie (John) McMillan, A.J. (Mariah) Quick, Bailey Smith, Lane (Marisa) Quick, Robert (Montana) Quick, Stormi Quick, Jami Quick; great-grandchildren, Maisen, Lexi and Aiden Quick, Harper Lou Quick and Crew Quick; brothers; John Marroney of Kim, CO and Stephen Powers of Redwood City, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, Darrell and Georgia Ellis, and step-brother Vincent Ellis.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 8:a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Evergreen Gardens direct or through the funeral home.
