Jose Manuel Valdez

Jose Manuel Valdez, 82, passed away December 30, 2020 at his La Junta home. He was born on September 7, 1938 in Las Animas, Colorado.

He worked for OJC for 31 years; he started with the Janitorial staff and became a plumber for the college. He enjoyed working on houses and remodeling his house and working in the yard. He was very handy and enjoyed going to scrap yards and finding treasures. Jose enjoyed watching old western movies and T.V. shows. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalia of the family home; son, Larry (Yolanda) Valdez of La Junta; daughter, Lorraine Valdez of La Junta; grandchildren, Laura (Tnaus) Nieto of La Junta; Larry Manuel Valdez of La Junta; great-grandchildren, Tezakih, Traven, Noah, Emiella, Tyberious Nieto; siblings, Josie Lovato, Paul Jacquez, Robert (Elizabeth) Valdez, Henry (Pat) Valdez, and Delores (Joe) Encinias; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tommy Valdez and sister, Helen Pino.

As per Jose’s request cremation has taken place and no services at this time.
