Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce that the final winter sun has set for Gloria Jean (Gregory) Cahill, 65 of La Junta. Gloria passed away on December 22, 2020 at Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs. She was born March 2, 1955 to Ruth (Ballinger) and Perry Gregory Jr. in Rocky Ford.

Gloria took great pride in raising three sons and one daughter. Her home was always open to their friends. She was simply known as Mom too many, Grandma to countless more and most recently, Great-Grandma. Just knowing her meant that you were part of her family. She was a strong, kindhearted woman who loved everyone.

Gloria also loved animals, especially her dogs, cats, chickens and goats. She often took in or cared for strays.

Gloria loved her grandchildren, always talking about how proud she was of them and supporting them by attending their sporting events, school events, and Koshare ceremonies.

She was a grateful cancer survivor who participated in Relay for Life / Walk for Cancer every year. She was also a faithful member of First Church of the Nazarene in La Junta. She was very active within the church and its youth group. She will be greatly missed by her community.

Gloria is survived by her children, Robert (Geri) Cahill of Las Animas; Mark (Barbara) Cahill of La Junta; George Cahill of La Junta and Ruth (Ralph) Cahill-Cabalar of La Junta; grandchildren, Cassie, Emalie, Myah, Luke, Hayden, Hunter, Zaquery, Jordan, Jr, Kai, Tim, Isabel, Ava, and Amelia; great-grandchildren, Easton and Mattilynn; and many others whom she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry Jr. and Ruth; and her brother, Larry.

A Memorial service will be Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the La Junta Church of the Nazarene.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
