Campaign Letter from William Culver:
"I am asking you to vote “William Culver” for your District Attorney.
In the last eight years I worked closely with the men and women of law enforcement in the 16th Judicial District as the Assistant District Attorney forging relationships based on trust, respect and commitment to upholding the rule of law. Working for the People of Colorado my only mandate has been to follow the constitution and the law, and do the right thing. Nothing has been more rewarding in my legal career.
Our local agencies deserve consistency and a DA’s office that will respond when they need assistance, training, or advice in the middle of the night. During my time as your assistant district attorney I have reached out to our local, and state agencies offering additional training seminars and have responded to many crime scenes to assist officers in their investigations.
Ask your neighbor who works in law enforcement. Ask them who shows up when they call. Ask them who they call when they need advice.
This personal involvement with law enforcement in our most serious felony cases gets results.
Over the last eight years no other lawyer in our judicial district has spent as many days in trial. During that time, I have tried murder cases for Bent, Otero and Crowley County, obtaining convictions for each murder. I walked the scenes, I assisted law-enforcement, I litigated the motions, argued to the jury, and obtained convictions. Convictions in cases where the victims didn’t expect our justice system to work. Convictions for victims who truly believed, because of their heritage or social standing, our system of justice wouldn’t work as hard for their lost sister, brother and child.
Our system did work. Convictions entered, and the families received closure.
As your District Attorney, I will continue to closely partner with our fine law enforcement officers and deputies to hold criminals accountable for their crimes. I will also continue to hold law enforcement to the highest ethical standards so that all are equal before the Court.
We all have a stake in safe communities and ethical law enforcement. We all have a stake in preserving our Constitution and our American way of life. In Colorado our legislature and Governor allowed our monuments, capital building and judicial buildings to be vandalized. Our Governor has been critical of law enforcement, the Second Amendment, and continues to burden our local police agencies with unfunded mandates.
Thankfully Colorado has 22 judicial districts where locally elected district attorneys determine which cases are prosecuted. This local authority gives our community a local voice in law enforcement which is not dictated by the whims of the feckless mob in Denver and Boulder who would vilify law enforcement.
Our local district attorney should be someone who supports the Second Amendment and would not tolerate lawlessness in the streets. I have always supported the Second Amendment and personally lobbied against the magazine restrictions in Colorado. Denver and Boulder may want to control the Arkansas Valley, but we must not let them. I ask that you vote for William Culver because I share your values, not the values of Denver and Boulder.
I ask for your support and vote because I want to continue to work to keep our communities safe."
