Hello to all.  Here is the vaccination plan for Crowley and Otero Counties for the next few weeks.  Please be aware that all of this is contingent upon vaccine availability, so it is subject to change.  OCHD is planning very carefully so that no dose remains in our refrigerator too long, but we also have to balance the limited amount of vaccine between eligible people in Phase 1A & 1B in addition to having enough vaccine for booster doses.  At this point in time, here is what the plan looks like through the month of February 2021 (subject to change):

ü  Week beginning Monday, 1/11/2021:  Continue OCHD vaccine administration to eligible individuals in Phase 1A & 1B.

ü  Week beginning Monday, 1/18/2021:  Continue OCHD vaccine administration to eligible individuals in Phase 1A & 1B, including booster shots.

ü  Week beginning Monday, 1/25/2021:  Continue OCHD vaccine administration to eligible individuals in Phase 1A & 1B, including booster shots.

ü  Week beginning Monday, 2/1/2021:  OCHD booster shot mass vaccination clinic.  This clinic will only be for those that received their first inoculation at the Arkansas Valley Fairgrounds in Rocky Ford on 1/6/2021.  Only booster shots will be given at this clinic.  The exact date of this booster shot clinic is still to be determined.

ü  Week beginning Monday, 2/8/2021:  Continue OCHD vaccine administration to eligible individuals in Phase 1A & 1B, including booster shots.

ü  Week beginning Monday, 2/15/2021:  Continue OCHD vaccine administration to eligible individuals in Phase 1A & 1B, including booster shots

ü  Week beginning Monday, 2/22/2021:  Continue OCHD vaccine administration to eligible individuals in Phase 1A & 1B, including booster shots.

ü  And now, some very important points to remember:

o   ALL CLINIC ACTIVITIES LISTED ABOVE ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND ARE CONTINGENT UPON AVAILABILITY OF VACCINE.

o   Mass vaccination clinics:  In order to perform mass vaccination clinics, we have to have sufficient vaccine available while still being able to ensure soon-to-be-necessary booster shots.  We will advertise mass vaccination clinics once sufficient vaccine is available.  Please stay tuned.

o   Age 70+ mass vaccination clinic registration:  Crowley and Otero residents that are aged 70+ can now register for mass vaccination clinics.  These clinics will be advertised when we have sufficient vaccine available.  However, you can get on the list now!  Here is the website to register:  ochdvaxnow.com

o   All clinic activities listed above are for Crowley/Otero counties only.  If you do not reside in Crowley or Otero County, please check with your Local Public Health Agency (LPHA) or your medical provider for COVID-19 vaccine availability.

o   Crowley and Otero residents, you can also check with your medical provider regarding vaccine availability through your medical provider.

o   If you are going to receive a booster shot, please be sure to bring your COVID-19 vaccination card that you received during your initial vaccination.

o   OCHD is currently planning for mass vaccination clinics for Phase 2 eligible individuals.  These clinics are anticipated to begin in the spring (COVID-19 vaccine | Colorado COVID-19 Updates) so stay tuned for more information.

Now is not the time to give up or become complacent.  It will be quite some time before we develop sufficient herd immunity through vaccinations to adequately protect our communities.  The Latin phrase “remis velisque” comes to mind.  This Latin phrase literally means “with oars and sails”, but the idiom/expression conveys the thought of giving it our best with all that we are able.  So keep those oars in the water, continue rowing steadily, keep on course so that we can reach our destination.  What is our course, our direction?  Doing our very best each day to protect ourselves, our families, our communities (https://covid19.colorado.gov/prevention).  What is our destination?  A world in which we have left this sad chapter in our collective history behind us and finally beat COVID-19 together.  Each day brings us a little closer so remis velisque, it’s up to us!
