Woodruff Memorial Library is keeping busy serving the Arkansas Valley community. Otero County is now in Level Blue on the COVID-19 restrictions dial, so the Library was able to open its doors 2/8/21 with limited capacity! Please be aware of the following as transition occurs between dial levels. Also, note that descriptions for each level are subject to change.

  • Level Green: Library is open to the public with limited capacity. Curbside Services continue. Programming back to in-person with pre-registration requirements for limited attendance.
  • Level Blue: Library is open to the public with limited capacity, limited amount of time in library, one hour/day limit for computer time. Curbside Services continue.
  • Level Yellow: Patron Appointments and Curbside Services
  • Levels Purple, Red, Orange: Curbside Services only. Curbside hours subject to change.

Curbside Services include: checkouts, copies, faxes, scan to email, lamination, and flash drive printing. Simply pull up to the SW corner of the Library (M-F 9am-6pm and Sat 9am-4pm) and call 384-4612. Give your name and service you are needing. If you are picking up checkouts, give your library card number. Someone on staff will place your items on the table and you retrieve them. All returns go in the outside book return.

There are also opportunities during the month for all ages. Youth programming has been going on virtually since September with Kimberly Gallegos. Teens (7th-12th grade) are meeting on Google Meet for Teen Activities Group on Tuesdays at 5 pm. Story Time goes Facebook Live every Friday at 10 am followed by Kids Music Time (with Chela Lujan). Friday Fillers is also
being done through Facebook Live every Friday at 1 pm. Programming details for each week can be found on the Woodruff Memorial Library monthly calendar.

February brings fun for adults! For the month of February, adults can enjoy Blind Date With a Book. “No hard feelings or awkward breakups! If you don’t like your date, return it.” Blind date descriptions can be found on the website (lajunta.colibraries.org) or the Woodruff Memorial Library Facebook page. Last, but certainly not least, the highlight of this time of year, the Winter (Adult) Reading Program! It began on February 1 and will end on March 31. Each WML book (print, eBook, or audiobook) earns one entry into the prize drawing (maximum of 12 entries per person). You must be at least 18 years old to participate. New this year, WML is encouraging interested patrons to participate on the new online platform called READsquared. Go to wml.readsquared.com to register! It is easy and convenient! You can even put the READsquared app on your phone or device.
