Colorado State Patrol Investing Single Vehicle Rollover on US Hwy 50
The Colorado State Patrol has an open investigation on a fatal single vehicle rollover that occurred this morning (2/19/22) at 1:40 am on US Hwy 50 between La Junta and Las Animas, Colorado.
A 2019 Dodge Caravan driven by a 41 year old male from Rocky Ford with a 37 year old female passenger from La Junta was traveling westbound on US Hwy 50.
The vehicle failed to negotiate a left curve and went off of the right side of the roadway near mile marker 397.
The van rolled multiple times. No train was involved, however the van did roll across the train tracks.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, and was pronounced deceased on scene.
The female passenger was transported to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta with moderate injuries.
The Colorado State Patrol reports that the case is open and speed and alcohol were both contributing factors.
