LJPD Has 17-year-old Shooting Suspect in Custody

Description: The La Junta Police Department has a juvenile suspect in custody, a 15-year-old victim was transported to AVRMC. According to LJPD, the shooting is still under investigation.

LJPD Has 17-year-old Shooting Suspect in Custody

At approximately 0014 hours, Officers responded to the 900 block of West 4th Street on report of shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and found a 15-year-old victim with gunshot wounds. The victim was treated by medical on scene and transported to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. A 17-year-old suspect was located at a different location and taken into custody at 0356 hours. This incident is still under investigation. Thank you to Otero County Sheriffs Office and La Junta Fire Department for their assistance.
