Bent County Sheriff VS High Speed Chase

On Friday, May 13, 2022, at approximately 0723 hours, Deputies contacted a vehicle on county road BB and Highway 101. 

The vehicle sped off leading deputies on a pursuit. The pursuit went westbound on highway 50 and into Otero County. The vehicle turned around and headed back eastbound. The vehicle was stopped on highway 50 just west of Las Animas.

Darius Martinez (DOB 10/11/2000) was taken into custody for an arrest warrant and additional charges of resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer. 

Morgan Carpenter (DOB 02/06/2001) was taken into custody for: vehicular eluding, aiding an escape, obstruction on a peace officer, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, speeding, failure to present documents upon request, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to use traffic signals.

All persons a presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
