Kiowa County Sheriff Release: High Speed Chase Suspect Apprehended

The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office Released the Following on their social media...

"On Tuesday, May 31st, 2022, at approximately 1413 hours, Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office received a traffic complaint in regards to a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 287 from the Prowers County line."

"Deputy Snover observed the vehicle near milepost 111 traveling at an approximated speed of 107 miles per hour in a 50 mph construction zone. As Snover attempted to pursue the vehicle, it sped up to speeds approximating up to 112 miles per hour."

"With the suspect driving recklessly through the construction zones and the Town of Eads, deputies terminated the pursuit for the safety of the public."

"After terminating the incident, Cheyenne and Lincoln County Sheriff Office safely apprehended the suspect in Wild Horse, attempting to hide behind the post office."

"The suspect, David Almaral (19), was transferred over to our custody from Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office and was taken to Bent County Jail for the following charges:

C.R.S. 42-4-1401(1) Reckless Driving  

C.R.S. 18-9-116.5(1) Vehicular Eluding 

C.R.S. 42-2-138(1) Drove Motor/Vehicle When License Under Restraint 

C.R.S. 42-4-1101 Speeding 112 in Posted 50mph Zone
