Lamar Fire Department VS Shed Fire 7/3/22

This morning at approximately 01:20 Lamar Fire and Emergency Services was paged to a shed on fire in the 900 blk of N. 9th.

Multiple 911 calls were made to Prowers County Communications. Upon arrival it was found that an approximately 10'x14' unnatached shed was on fire behind the main home structure.

The fire was self vented and fully envolved, and was encroaching on a second shed on an adjacent property.

The fire was extinguished and overhaul was completed resulting in a total loss.

It was discovered that the shed was being lived in by two occupants and illegal/unsafe electrical wiring was being supplied to it from the main structure.

We urge citizens to utilize proper wiring of out buildings and sheds that has been inspected and installed by a licensed electrician.

Engine 2, Engine 6, Med 6, and, Chief 1 responded. We would like to extend a Thank You to Prowers County Communications, Lamar Police Department, Prowers County Sheriff's Office, and Lamar Light and Power for their assistance.
